Fresh Start // Part 2

(Jeremiah 4:3 NKJV) For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your fallow ground (unplowed, uncultivated), And do not sow among thorns.

(Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT) The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness, his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Prayer should be our first response, not our last resort.

Why pray?

(Matthew 6:5-8) “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

The primary purpose in prayer is not to get something from God, but to know God.

(Acts 2:42 CSB) They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.

(I Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV) Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

How to pray

Pray relationally.

(Matthew 6:9-13) This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, (Ref. Verse: Matthew 11:28)

Pray intentionally.

(Mark 1:35) Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Pray dependently.

(John 15:5) "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (Ref. Verse: Philippians 4:6-7)

Pray desperately.

(Psalm 16:5 GNT) You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands.

(Exodus 33:15) Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.
