Another word for regeneration is rebirth, from which comes the phrase “born again.” According to the scriptures, man in his fallen state is “dead in his trespasses and sins.” This is until he is “made alive” through the finished work of Christ on the Cross as a result of placing his faith in Him. In other words, regeneration is God alone both cleansing a new believer from all the sin they’ve have ever committed and creating a new nature in us by the Holy Spirit.
