What is worship?
(Psalm 34:1) I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be continually in
my mouth.
- Everything we do should glorify God
- (1Cor. 10:31 ESV) So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
- Worship is the activity of glorifying God in his presence with your voice and your heart.
- (Col. 3:16) “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
- God calls us to assemble so that we might worship Him.
- (Exodus 7:16) “Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the desert.”
What is worship?
- True worship is treasuring God above everything else.
- (John 4:23-24) But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
- The gospel call is a call to worship, to turn from sin and call upon the name of the Lord
- (Heb. 12:28-29) Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
- Reverent corporate worship, then is not optional for the church of God.
- Worship therefore is an expression of our ultimate purpose for living which is to glorify God fully and enjoy Him forever.
