Convictions | Part 4

The Son

(Phil. 2:4-11) Let each of you look not to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who , though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father .

1. We believe that Jesus is God in flesh. (John 1:1-4,14)
2. We turn to the one, the only one who could keep God’s law, Jesus.
3. As God in the flesh Jesus did what we could not do; he obeyed the law perfectly.
4. Jesus is God and he became human for a reason; for us and for our salvation.
5. Jesus forgives us and empowers us to follow Him in servanthood and love.

Application
6. Jesus calls us to lay our life down as servants. (Matt. 23:11)
7. God wants us to freely and joyfully choose to put others' interests above our own.(Phil. 2:3-4)
8. In God’s greatness and genius he says the greatest among us are those who love and serve others most.
