God With Us // Part 1
The Promises of God with Us
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel
(Matthew 1:23) “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call
him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
- We have the Promise of His Presence.
- (Isaiah 7:14) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
- (Matthew 28:20) And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
- (John 14:16-18 NASB) I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever, that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
- We have the Promise of Redemption.
- (Isaiah 59:20) “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the LORD.
- (Ephesians 1:7) In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
- We have the Promise of Restoration.
- (Isaiah 35:10 ESV) And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
- We have the Promise of Peace.
- (Isaiah 9:6) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
- (John 14:27) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
- We have the Promise of His Return.
- (John 14:3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
- (Acts 1:11) This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven
- (Revelation 22:12) Look, I am coming soon!
