What's Next - Part 1: Know God

(Matthew 7:21-23) Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Knowing God is not...

1. Growing up in church.

2. Being a good person.

3. Attending church.

4. Getting your act together.

5. Doing and saying “Christian” things.

We’ve trusted more in a Christianity that is grounded in our

resumes of “Do’s and Don’ts” rather than trusting in what Christ

has already done.

(John 19:30) When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”

With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Knowing God is, knowing Him...

1. Personally.

(Romans 10:9 NLT) If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

2. Relationally.

(I John 4:10 TPT) This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins.

3. Intimately.

(John 5:39-40 TPT) “You are busy analyzing the Scriptures, frantically pouring over them in hopes of gaining eternal life. Everything you read points to me , yet you still refuse to come to me so I can give you the life you’re looking for—eternal life!

(James 4:8a) Come near to God and he will come near to you.

All scripture is from the NIV unless otherwise noted
