Words Matter

(Proverbs 18:21 TPT) – Your words are so powerful that they will kill or  give life , and the talkative person will reap the consequences. 

(James 3:8-9) but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil , full of deadly poison . With the tongue, we praise our Lord and Father, and with it, we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 

(Matthew 12:36 TPT) you can be sure of this: when the day of judgment comes, everyone will be held accountable for every careless word he has spoken . 

(Luke 6:45 TPT) People are known in this same way. Out of the virtue stored in their hearts, good and upright people will produce good fruit. But out of the evil hidden in their hearts, evil ones will produce what is evil. For the overflow of what has been stored in your heart will be seen by your fruit and will be heard in your words. 

(Proverbs 16:24) Gracious words are a honeycomb , sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. 

Key point: Words matter because they ultimately reveal the condition of our hearts. 

1. Guard your heart. 

(Proverbs 4:23) Above all else , guard your heart , for everything you do flows from it. 

2. Guard your tongue. 

(Proverbs 21:23) Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.
