Did God Really Say That?
Did God Really Say That?
1. Suicide is serious.
(Genesis 1:26-27) Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our
likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over
the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along
the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he
created them; male and female he created them
(Genesis 9:6 NLT) If anyone takes a human life, that person’s life will also be taken
by human hands. For God made human beings in his own image.
2. Suicide is a sin.
(Mark 10:19) You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not
commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall
not defraud, honor your father and mother.’
(I John 3:15) Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that
no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
3. Suicide is theologically a difficult problem.
(Romans 11:33 CSB) Oh, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the
knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and untraceable his ways!
His Grace Vs. My Sin
1. All my sin is covered.
(Ephesians 1:7 AMP) In Him we have redemption [that is, our deliverance and
salvation] through His blood, [which paid the penalty for our sin and resulted in] the
forgiveness and complete pardon of our sin, in accordance with the riches of His
grace.
(Colossians 2:13-14) When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of
your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having
canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and
condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
2. Nothing can separate me from God’s love.
(Romans 8:38-39) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
3. One dark moment doesn’t ultimately define me.
(Matthew 24:13 CSB) But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
It’s not the intensity of our faith that saves, but the object of faith.
